What things to look in a guest post?

I am planning to start a brand soon on Ecommerce and aimed to not build spammy links to this site.

After the site being launched, how many days should I wait to start building the links?

As mentioned I don't want to build spammy links, should I directly start with good guest posts or things like business directory submission is also important for a start?
