Why is my site not generating traffic

Hi, my website was generating around 10,000 visitors a day 2 and a half years ago. But then i hired a SEO company which I thought was a trusted company. However, I found out that it was part of a franchise and they were just the middle men and contracted the work out to India.

After three months, i found my traffic went down hill, i was losing thousands of visitors each day. After finding out I was paying over the odds for the servcies and seeing my site damaged, i then got rid of them. However, i then found out they put a backdoor in my site and it took an expert to finally remove it. Each time it was removed it kept on coming back but it has now been removed.

Ever since they did the damage to my site I have been trying to find out what damage they have caused. The site is not banned with Google but it is acting strange.

I put an article as a test on my site which is in2town.co.uk and it did not rank well or attracted much traffic. i then put it on a test site and it ranked well and generated a lot of traffic.

Is there a way to see what technical damage they have done to stop my articles from ranking well so i can recover my traffic

I examined your site's backlink profile and the backlink profile is bad, very bad actually.

Apparently that India Seo firm has pointed some very toxic sites at your money site.

In addition to that you have some very bad links that were generated 2015 thru 2016. Note that this time is prior to your stint with the India firm. So it looks like your site is under an algorithmic penalty, probably Penguin.

Clean up your backline profile and in your situation, I would even use a disavow

thank you for that. I have got rid of load of back links already and just checked with seranking and seeing lots more. i paid a service around three months ago to audit my links and to remove them, so i am not sure why i am still seeing so many bad links on seranking. Can i ask at what level of dt trust should i remove. should i remove everything under dt 30 or should it be more than that. and also what is the correct way to disllow links and how long does it take. still not sure why so many bad links are still showing when i paid to have them removed

Go create a free account with Webmeup.com. Then get a report with the risk value associated with each link. Anything over 80 % is probably deadly toxic.

But you have to look closely at each site.

Then after you cull those links, you look at the sites that are left and ask yourself.. Would this site normally link back to me, meaning is there some connection between the two sites.

An example of a connection would be :

A Dog Grooming site would probably recommend a Vet site for sick animals.
