Social Media

Of late I have been sharing products to facebook and doing posts on there advertising my website. Do these count as backlinks as I don't see them appearing in search console. I understand search console takes a while to catch up but its been weeks now and I would have expected them to be there by now.

Search console shows both follow and no-follow links. So it may show, although I'm pretty sure most social media pages are in fact no index, so I don't think they'll ever appear in your GSC.

They do count as backlinks - as they're a link. But do they count as a vote to Google? No.

Saying that, sharing stuff on Social Media is a great way of getting exposure. Keep doing it.

Good advice?

Share for traffic and not for links. That's what I always tell people

I agree with the share for traffic not for links statement.

Many social media posts do end up counting as links. Even if the links don't count it is brand mentions, URL mentions, and coverage.

Social media can be very powerful. There is a lot to making an effective social media campaign. Posting at the right times on the right platform to the right audience is critical. The half life of a tweet vs a linked in article is drastically different.

Organic reach on social media platforms is dwindling but there are still a lot of opportunities.

It also augments SEO very well, as SEO is the long game and Social media and PPC is immediate. All are effective. SEO provides the best ROI in the long term, just business operates on short, medium and long term horizons. When you need results now Social media and PPC are great options.

I think it counts as a backlink but doesn't really reach people that much. You can use tags and KWs known by many.

Facebook gives no follow link. It's good to have presence on these social networking websites but its not counted as a backlink I guess so.
