Are there any free tools to help with SEO

My site is about 12 months old now but not ranking well.
I would like to start understanding why. Can anyone give me some pointers to any tools available that may give me some insight into how I can improve my site and rank better.

Hi Tiger

I would start by grabbing a free copy of Screaming Frog. https://www.screamingfrog.co.uk/

It will work for up to 500 pages but you will be able to inspect all your page title, find any 404 errors etc.

It is also great for finding large images on your site so you can help improve your speed as well. It's normal my first goto tool when starting to look at a site.

The paid-for version is fantastic but if your site is within the 500 limit then stick with the free version as its quite expensive.

I got below data from previous site

  • BuiltWith: BuiltWith Technology Lookup
Useful tool to see what software a company is using, great for when you're investigating a potential new client.
  • BrightEdge: http://www.brightedge.com/
Analytics tool, looks to be a high end high cost software.
  •

Great idea! I will have a look at some of the tools you proposed.

BuiltWith Technology Lookup

To know how a website is built, I often use this website as it's very simple and fast. It's pretty useful to find prospects by CMS if you work in an agency.

http://www.brightedge.com/

Awesome SEO analytic tool that gives you almost everything you need to track, monitor and report your performance but it's quite expensive.

Site Speed Plugin: JCH Optimize Website Speed Reports: GTmetrix Rank Tracking Rankwatch Image Compression: FileOptimizer Free SSL Let's Encrypt Free CDN Cloudflare

Text-Only Mode Chrome plugin

A neat little plugin to quickly turn off/on graphics on a page. Really useful to remove the clutter and see the meat of the site

Page Explorer Page Explorer, to check onsite SEO tags and elements

A small project of mine to quickly see elements and other useful things on a page. Includes images alt tags etc. Still under development so let me know of any bugs please.

I think it's mainly about getting the right toolset.

Most SEO's use a variety of different tools. For example, one of my favourite tools is a link redirect checker.

The only tools you won't get for free really, are backlink checkers as they cost a lot of money to run.

Currently you can also get a 7 day free trial of SEO Powersuite Enterprise.   More than enough time to evaluate the software for use.

Just click that Powersuite button on in the top right corner of the page and test drive it.

Google’s tools are often overlooked by new SEOs. And, I get it – you want the shiny new third party tool that promises the earth.

But, some of the most established SEOs I know use these tools to form the backbone of their campaigns.

Google’s tools are free and you can extract valuable data in just a matter of seconds. These tools are up to date with 2018 Google trends.

1) Google PageSpeed Insight

Page loading speed is one of the most important elements of a website. Better site speed leads to increased user satisfaction and higher rankings.

Google Page Speed Insights is a free tool that checks the speed of your site and provides suggestions to improve it.

2)SEMrush

SEMrush is one of the best SEO software that every marketer must use. It conducts a comprehensive SEO audit and displays the percentage of search traffic and the number of backlinks that a site has. You can even conduct keyword research, topic research and detailed competitive analysis using this tool.

 Moz Link Explorer

XML Sitemaps Generator

 SEOquake

 Google Analytics

check all these tools to verify your website and to get good ranking

Same question too! 😀

Thank you for bringing this up. My blog is barely a year old and I am also trying to find ways to make its ranking good.

I tried using WebCEO but there is only 14 days free trial.

I will check on the suggestion of others here too.

I will also appreciate much if you could visit my site and maybe get some pointers from all of you too. Please drop yours here too so we can support each other.

There are many free tools available that you can use for daily uses. Check the following:

  • Answer The Public
  • Woorank’s SEO & Website Analysis Tool
  • Animalz Revive: Improve and update old content.
  • CanIRank: Quickly answer the question: “Can I rank for this keyword?”.
  • Google’s Mobile-Friendly Test: Get your site ready for Google’s Mobile-first Indexing.
  • Ubersuggest: Get keyword suggestions and competition data.

You can Google for such other tools. But I would suggest you buy a paid tool for better reports.

Hi,
there are some free SEO tools you can use to help your ranking. The first and perhaps the most important thing is your content on a website. Do you have or implement a content marketing strategy? If not or you have some issues with that you can check https://devenup.com/blog/content-marketing-strategy-planning

It will definitely improve your website performance.

The second thing is the external SEO. Have you tried it?

There are various free tools like

  1. Moz
  2. Ahref
  3. Screamingfrog
  4. SemRush

We use all these tools.

Ranking number one on Google is not a joke. It takes a lot of dedication and patience for the same. We constantly work on our product's SEO. And now finally we are ranking at number one for the keywords Hotel and Room Mapping.
