How long does it take to get to the top of Google?

I've read a lot of conflicting reports on how long it takes to rank #1 on Google.
Most sources seem to say ~2 months is about right. I was just looking for some kind of confirmation from experts.

Thanks

I am afraid this is an the impossible question, You can get to #1 position within hours of posting a page but others you will never make the top 100.

It all depends on what your trying to rank for. Lets say for example your keyword is BMW, I think it you would struggle to overtake the brand and reach top slot.

The page below from this site is in #1 position only after a 2 or 3 days but the phrase is not very competitive so was a lot easier to rank well and quickly.

You can however go for what is termed low hanging fruit, long tail phrases, these tend to be far less competitive and easier to rank for.

Yes, this is a difficult one to answer. For a keyword with no competition and doing all the right things it can be as little as 1 hour.

The 2-3 month time frame is fairly typical.

It can be improved with effort.

In addition to the other answers, it depends on how frequently Google crawls the site - which ranges from a few days to a few weeks.

If you've added new pages or made significant changes to existing content you can request that google recrawls the relevant URLs.

It depends on how you do off-page activities and on page activities if every thing is perfect based on long tail and short tail keywords it takes an average of 2-3 months

I challenge you to rank #1 for the word "Amazon", within 2-3 months of course.

I was also looking same. I literally needed this because so many times I am racking my brain like what I am doing is not showing the value. I have also found some interesting blogs on How long does it take to get to the top of Google?

Yes, as said before, you have to choose your keywords carefully to avoid too much competition. It also depends on the techniques used for your backlinks and the quality of your content. Being positioned in the top 3 places is already good but impossible to tell you how long it will take. Otherwise, depending on your sector, you can use the local SEO to try to get the zero position.

If you are going to run a new site, then different factors involve in order to rank early in SERP. The first thing is how much competition in that market, If competition is high then make sure you provide outstanding piece of information ( Content quality ) and Focus on user experience ( Site speed , Site structure , Proper CTA , Eye catchy images and most import interlinking structure. If you covered unique angles in your site then it is likely to be happen that site get ranking most probably in 2-3 months. I again say, it depends on how much competition and how much strong your competitors are.

Secondly, google not easily rank a new site within month, first it checks the quality of that website in reference to content and user experience. After complete analysis google decide to rank it or not. Let say google ranks that site but it continuously checking your site in terms of backlinks for about 5-6 months. So there is not definite number to gain early ranking.
