Do adding SSL certificate makes any change in impressions in Google Search console?

I have recently added SSL Certificate to my wordpress site. But my impressions dropped down even after verifying the https: property in google search console. How to improve the impressions and clicks?

Are you looking at the right property?

I say this because the old http version of your site I would expect to see a drop as google transfers your site over to https. Have you also redirected all old http traffic to the new site?

I say this because if you have any links pointing to the old version then they will be wasted unless they are redirected and that could drop your rankings.

Where possible I would get any links changed but a redirect will fix any that you cant or miss.

Also if within your site you have any absolute internal links make sure they are all changed as well.

Good advice?

I'd expect to see a bit of instability after a http/https migration. Make sure 301 redirects are in place, & the canonicals are correct. It should settle down.

Thanks for the help. Can you please explain little bit more about 301 redirects? I had gone through few videos and articles on it but got confused. How can i do it in wordpress site? Even if you have any link that describe it well, please share it. I would really appreciate. Thanks.

You can either do it with PHP in your htaccess: https://www.freecodecamp.org/news/how-to-redirect-http-to-https-using-htaccess/, or you could use a Wordpress plugin like this: https://wordpress.org/plugins/really-simple-ssl/ within one click, it'll redirect all http to https. Alternatively, you could use Cloudflare and use their always HTTPS feature: https://blog.cloudflare.com/how-to-make-your-site-https-only/.
