How to Use H1 Tags

Its not a very complicated thing. Just remember before select h1 tag for a page it may any kind of title, there should be your focus keyword, and you have to optimized its length. Try to use total 60 corrector. Use your h1 and h2 tag for text only. Some people use it for logo or etc.. If you do it carefully then you may not have any ranking issue regarding h1-h6 placing. Yes you should remove H1 tags from banner as H1 can be tag used only once in a page. It's a thumb rule to use H1 tag only once in a page/post.

Some folks will say remove it ... but don't.
