Changing domain name and including a number?

Hello!

I run an online animation school called, Rocket Sky 3D Animation School.

I recently changed my domain from www.rocketsky.ca to

www.rocketsky3d.com, thinking that a .com would be far more beneficial in an international market.

Did I make a mistake by including a number in my domain, even if it is 3D?

Thanks for your help!

People often change domain names.  The issues arise when the migration is blundered.

Did you do a wildcard redirect ?

Did you verify all backlinks get redirected to the new appropriate pages ?

Lots of questions...

If you did a proper migration to the new domain then you should recover your traffic in a few weeks.

The dot com does give some opportunities in the international market, especially if you decide to support additional languages.

Good advice?

There are a few steps when it comes to changing your domain name on Domain.com:
  1. Log in to your Domain.com, hosting account.
  2. Go to the Domain Control Panel settings.
  3. Click on the Website Builder Icon.
  4. Right next to the Domain name you wish to change, click on Options.
  5. A menu will drop down, click on Change Domain.
